Welcome to our shearing and sharpening information page. We are alpaca breeders and shear as a husband and wife team. Husband, Les, is the Shearer and Sharpener. Wife, Carol, sorts the cut, trims teeth and topknots. Our shearing experience spans 5 years, shearing both our own herd and a growing number of neighboring farms. Additionally, we offer reasonable sharpening service for your comb and cutters.

We use a specially build alpaca tilt-table which allows us to lay your alpaca on his/her side and tie it's legs securely. Every alpaca is handled gently, yet efficiently. While your alpaca is on the shearing table, we can trim toenails and you may give any necessary de-worming or vaccinations. Teeth can also be trimmed for a small additional fee.

Your alpaca's clip will be sorted, and bagged into 3 grades. Our shearing service includes shearing of your entire alpaca – not just the blanket, or prime area. Neck, legs, topknot and toenails are all included in the per head price.

$35.00 per alpaca plus travel fee depending upon distance.
$20.00 per cria (6 months and under)
Add $5.00 for:
Showcut (blanket in one piece)
teeth trimming

Sharpening Prices 2007

$1.50 per comb
$1.50 per cutter

Turn around time during shearing season (April – July) is 3 days maximum, not including shipping days.

Please note – every precaution is taken to prevent damage to your combs/cutters. Occasional breakage does occur. Camelot Ranch Alpacas Gentle Shearing & Sharpening Service shall not be responsible for replacement.

Please include return postage amount, or prepay return postage at time of shipping.

Please package your combs and cutters well padded to prevent breakage during shipping.
